Recently my wife, Nancy, and I enjoyed a week back in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. There I graduated from seminary and served two churches. The time away was a refreshing opportunity of sightseeing and, more importantly, catching up with dear church friends, some whom I had not seen in forty years. Here are a few pictures from the trip that I thought worth sharing.
These first three are from the George W. Bush Library. I was impressed with the library itself and especially with these quotes about his faith that were placed on placards in the museum’s displays:
The library includes an exact reproduction of President Bush’s oval office. On one of the library shelves is this prayer in which he expresses that he personally felt his responsibility was more than a call to duty from the people but a charge from almighty God, upon whom he must rely.
Since the very first Sunday we stepped foot in Gambrell Street Baptist Church on the campus of Southwestern Seminary in January of 1969, Corrie and Charles Dixon have been our friends. We have gone through thick and thin together and I was so touched by the words on one of their wall hangings that I wanted to share it.
